The founding conference of the International Turon Federation takes place

Turon martial arts – a national sport that emerged in the early years of Uzbekistan’s independence – has officially entered the global stage.

The International Turon Federation has been established, with its headquarters to be located in New York.

This was announced during the founding conference at the Tashkent City Department of Sports.

The conference was attended by officials from the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Asian Turon Martial Arts Association, the Turon Martial Arts Federation of Uzbekistan, coaches, and athletes. Delegates from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, India, Latvia, Türkiye, Pakistan, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Afghanistan participated online.

The history of Turon martial arts dates back to the era of Amir Temur. The modern rules of this sport were developed by the late Bahodir Saidov, a devoted expert who dedicated his efforts to promoting Turon, especially among the youth.

The Ministry of Sports of Uzbekistan, together with the Turon Martial Arts Federation of Uzbekistan, as well as coaches, specialists, and supporters preserving this Uzbek tradition abroad, discussed several key issues related to the establishment of the International Turon Federation. These included the development of the organization’s charter and the formation of its governing body.

Based on the views expressed, the federation’s symbols were selected. Farrukh Niyazimbetov was elected President of the International Turon Federation following a vote. He was tasked with forming the list of federation members, registering the new organization in New York, and organizing the first Turon World Championship in Tashkent.
